Welcome to the website of Gary R. Hoffman. I was born at an early age (0) and didn't start writing until a later age (63). I've discovered there are advantages and disadvantages to this system. I have lots of experiences to draw on, but it's difficult to remember all of them. Had I started writing earlier, I might have recorded events as they happened.
I graduated from Brentwood High School in 1957 and Central Missouri State University in 1961. I earned a B.S. Degree in Education with a major in English. I taught my first year in Fontana, California, and then returned to Missouri to teach for another 21 years. I quit teaching in 1985 to go into business for myself. Several people, including an now ex-wife, told me it wouldn't work, but it must have! I'm still alive and gaining weight like crazy!
At the present time, I live in a motor home--National Seabreeze LX, for those of you who care--and try to stay in moderate climates. I sell jewerly at flea markets, craft fairs, and most any other place that will let me set up my tent. I sell jewelry to live.
I live to write. Mysteries are a favorite of mine, but I have written, and published, Romance stories, Westerns, one children's story, and soft science fiction.
I've had over 150 short stories published in magazines, ezines, and anthologies. I've won many awards for my short stories and have been nominated for a Derringer Award by the Short Mystery Fiction Society.
Thanks for reading and enjoy the next few pages.

The picture on the left was taken at my daughter's house. The black, brown, and white "thing" extending from the side of my head is not a growth. It is her cat, Sassy!
Yes, I like cats and have one of my own, Callie--a calico born in Caledonia, Missouri. Had to be named Callie!
